Overview

Care is standard anubias with the variegated-line caveats: tie the rhizome to wood or rock and never bury it, keep light moderate so the white tissue neither fades nor grows algae, and be patient, because the pale leaves photosynthesise less and the plant grows even slower than a green barteri. CO2 is optional but helps the pattern hold.

In the wild

A cultivated sport with no wild population: the parent species, Anubias barteri, grows along shaded stream banks in West and Central Africa. Giant Stardust carries the white-speckled variegation of the Stardust line on leaves roughly twice the size, and circulates in small numbers through collector and tissue-culture channels.

Good to know

An aroid in the family Araceae, one of the newer names in the wave of variegated anubias sports selected out of tissue culture alongside pinto and snow white. The starfield speckling sits over a broader, longer leaf than standard Stardust, and like all white-patterned anubias the pattern strength varies leaf to leaf and holds best when the plant is grown slowly.
