The 2024 revision placed it in the genus Brochis as Brochis delphax, and it is also called the delphax cory or piglet cory.
In the wild
The false blochi cory comes from soft, acidic tributaries of the upper Orinoco basin, including the Rio Inirida in Colombia. It keeps to loose groups near submerged wood and forages over sand and leaf litter in slow, shaded water.
