Overview

Care matches the Red form: a nutrient-rich substrate, crown above the surface, medium light and optional CO2, with iron helping the pink hold instead of fading green. What sets Pink apart in practice is scale, since well-fed mature plants throw broad leaves and wide rhizomes that outgrow the neat midground slot shops sell them for, so give it elbow room or split the rhizome regularly. It melts like a crypt when moved and rebuilds slowly, and old hands report it doing fine without injection, just slower and looser.

In the wild

Pink is a trade colour form of Lagenandra meeboldii and circulates as a nursery and hobbyist line rather than a documented wild population. The parent species grows on shaded, marshy riverbanks of Karnataka and Kerala in south-west India, emersed or half-submersed at the waterline for much of the year.

Good to know

Lagenandra meeboldii belongs to the family Araceae, in the same tribe of aroids as Cryptocoryne. The Pink label is one of several colour names shops hang on this species, and the boundary with the Red form is genuinely blurry: Flowgrow treats 'Pink' as a misapplied name for the same plant, while growers and shops keep the two labels separate. Neither name has botanical standing.
